We just returned back from IGEL Technology's DISRUPT ON TOUR in New York City and we're buzzing with excitement.
It was great to spend the day talking and networking with experienced EUC digital workspace leaders, industry analysts and technology innovators. In fact — we enjoyed DISRUPT NYC so much, that we're joining the DISRUPT Nashville event on October 20 as well!
We spent the day listening to different sessions (and giving one of our own!), talking to other sponsors and attendees and learning more about how everyone is navigating the new "work from anywhere" world. While listening to everyone's experiences with securing and supporting a hybrid workforce, we noticed there were three common takeaways that everyone returned to.
Sorry, Elon, but remote and hybrid work is here to stay.
Employees have spent the last two years proving that they don't need to be in an office, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day in order to do their jobs well. And more than that, they've been very vocal about the fact that they don't want to return to an office full time.
A recent study from Gallup reported the following findings:
It was clear at DISRUPT NYC that many companies have made the shift to remote or hybrid work, and are planning on staying there.
Many end-users have gotten their wish and they get to work full time remote or in a hybrid position, but just because it's what people enjoy, doesn't make it an easy feat to pull off.
While our sense of autonomy, freedom, and productivity increased...so too did the risk we pose to ourselves and our organization. New work happens in a new non-linear way and often at asynchronous times with our peers. To that end we all need specialized systems, applications, images, and configurations to do the job(s) we are tasked to deliver. It's tremendously difficult for a modern Sysadmin to pinpoint signal amidst the noise of tech sprawl, and now geographic location sprawl.
Most Network and SysAdmins have 12 to 20 tools, consoles, or solutions just to figure out the basics like configuration, usage, security exposure, compliance posture, update cadence, encryption status, and applications. Trying to coordinate the teams and tasks that require this data is daunting at best, expensive, static and error prone at worst.
While hybrid and remote work has made life better for a majority of employees, our SysAdmins are stuck in a constant triage loop.
Everyone went home and our SysAdmins lost visibility into our activities. Hybrid workers + loss of visibility = increased risk.
A lack of relevant data is hindering companies' abilities to make smart decisions. In order to determine actionable steps to a future state, they must know their current state.
In addition to the CPU, Disk, Memory, and Network data that traditional RMM's provide, companies are yearning for a simple way to determine which of their users are at risk and how they can be secured.
Remotely Founder & CEO, Tyler Rohrer, covered this topic in his session "I Work Remotely — Now What?" and provided insight into how Remotely helps see, secure, and support their hybrid users — but the "I need more visibility" sentiment was echoed throughout the entire event.
Companies need to be able to rely on technology to help guide them through the turn-by-turn directions they need to navigate out of the insecure and unproductive architectures they were compelled to adopt over the past few years — that's why we built Remotely.
Remotely's cloud and Azure-native software allows any organization to get a real time view into the security, compliance, configuration, and performance envelope of every user on their network.
Our Online Security Assessment feature monitors and reports on data from your Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including:
In addition to your Azure data, Remotely's RMM function monitors:
All of this performance, environmental, application, risk, and security related information is collected and displayed in one console. Thus allowing you to begin to act strategically regarding your hybrid user's vs simply acting in triage mode constantly.
Our new normal, hybrid world demands end user computing solutions that fully support a hybrid world. Users, organizations, devices, applications, security, compliance, and the real world must combine to empower our staff, end users, and budgets to deliver productivity and value to the business.
We're looking forward to DISRUPT Nashville in October — if you haven't registered to attend yet, save your seat now, you won't want to miss it!
