Joining Remotelys Board of Customer Success

Cloud computing is allowing firms to quickly and efficiently provide traditional desktop capabilities by doing it virtually. Sacrificing security on the edge of the enterprise's perimeter is not an option. Remotely is in a great position to provide the management and capabilities of that estate. Enabling a remote workforce is great but it must be within control

There are moments in any startup that stand out for the pure magic they create. These are milestones along the way we all look back and remember with fondness. With the economic headwinds facing all too many companies, it is also good fortune when individuals within mammoth enterprises take the time to help.

About a decade ago I was giving a session on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure as a freshly minted VMware employee. In the audience was an attendee keenly listening. I explained how computer systems are simply the summation of a few moving parts - and if you manage them as discrete services - to be made available to end users - versus statically installed objects on a commodity device - well, you might have something.

After my session that keen attendee approached me and said, “that makes sense.” Mike Zanga was not only attentively listening and following along he saw the same vision I did. He saw the need to treat each of the core components of the PC like a service managing each one with the business unit most specialized in that area, versus having everyone try to manage everything.

Those were the golden days of VDI. Some would say they still are or could be. Others will correctly suggest that DaaS (Desktops as a Service) takes the notion of ephemeral, non-persistent desktops even further.

If we take those lessons learned as well as the methodology, we used to generate successful outcomes and apply similar logic to our new remote and hybrid team members - well, we might have something.

It is for that reason that when we started Remotely, I reached out to an old friend, Mike Zanga. Mike is a scholar in not only end user computing, virtualization, application security strategy - but also enterprise scale risk management.

When I shared with Mike that we were going to build the first Risk Management Platform for end user computing (endpoints and end users) he was genuinely curious. He explained the spectrum of challenges organizations of all sizes are having adjusting to our newly hybrid work styles, and nonlinear workdays.

Together we started going deeper into the topic as we both saw it needed to be solved. As our conversations evolved, I asked Mike if he would be a member of our customer success panel/board when we got it up and running. I thought this was a long shot question, and I winced a bit when I asked. To my excitement Mike didn't hesitate when he said "Yes."

So much like we did in the early days of virtualization - we are going to help the market get started with remote and hybrid user governance, risk, and compliance management.

Why? Because it gives them and the company they work for better outcomes.

We need to get started • We need a new methodology • We need new instrumentality

With our first customers starting to use our service in production this month there will be no shortage of feedback, and suggestions. We are excited to welcome Mike onto our Board of Customer Success.

2023 is just the beginning.
